That if gas wasn't so expensive, she'd buy me one of these
She says she wants to put me in a metal cage on the road.... Then I showed her this:

How to get your parent to buy you a Miata by Denver.

I had a female cousin that drove an H2.
She's like 5'5", light as a feather, but I'll be damned if she didn't rock that H2. Drove it like a boss too, could whip it right into tight spots without an issue.
She sold it for a new Manual V8 Camaro back in 2010.

Subarus are pretty damn safe. I suggest the turbo route.

As someone whose supported first car options were irresponsible and impractical, I approve.

The fail logic that big cars are safer that women typically go by.

I know a guy if you need to get a I (heart) MOM tattoo for a good price.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

She isn't. Married into the family actually so...

Big cars are safer though. In a collision between a Miata and a H2, the HUMMER will win.

So your mom wants to put you in a cage and leave it in the road? D:

Better yet show her this

and finally this
I used to think my Miata was the most dangerous car in the family fleet.

Big car is safer has been debunked numerous times.

No matter how many times I watch the Silverado one, I still want a Silverado.

I would if I didn't have kids. My dad's got the Sierra Extended cab with the stepside. RWD 5.3, pretty nice truck.

The back doesn't seem to crush too much.
I think a crew cab that actually has a B-pillar would fare better.

But which one will you more likely get into an accident with? The Miata with full 360 degree visibility thanks to the drop top, stops and turns on a dime, and has about as much mechanical grip as you can get in a car of that class or the top heavy H2 that weighs as much as an MRAP and who's visibility is so bad that switching to tank vision blocks would be an improvement?

Honestly the big concern for me is the driver restraints. The way that seat fails looks like a head injury inbound for the driver.

Yeah, putting the belts in the seats is a good idea, until you crash.

That's not the point. Bigger and heavier, the H2 will push the Miata out of the way if it doesn't drive up on top of it. In a collision, large heavy vehicles have an advantage over small, light ones.

They're more likely to roll, but when all else is equal (safety features such as airbags, ESC, ect...) in a direct collision a SUV is safer than a little car.

Not really a fair comparison, since the Silverado is doing a partial overlap and the Miata is just doing a 90-degree front impact.

That's assuming that the H2 and Miata crash into each other. I've seen more single vehicle accidents and rollovers with SUVs that I have with Miatas. If the H2 doesn't make it to the crash site with the Miata because it already flipped over because of its inexperienced driver, then the Miata doesn't get crushed by the H2.

I had that same model Jeep Cherokee, it died at a red light in that exact manner. I can attest with real world data, it folded up just like that.
